Meadow Fields
Growing, Learning and Belonging Together
At Race Leys Infant School, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing and supportive environment where every child is valued for who they are and given the opportunity to thrive.
Meadow Fields is our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP), providing a specialist learning environment for children with additional needs. Meadow Fields is an integral part of our school community, and the children who attend are very much part of the Race Leys family.
Our approach is rooted in strong relationships, understanding each child as an individual and creating the right conditions for them to feel safe, successful and ready to learn.
Our Specialist Resource Provision
Meadow Fields provides specialist support for children whose needs are identified through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Places within the provision are allocated through the Local Authority admissions process.
Children in Meadow Fields benefit from a highly personalised approach to learning, with provision carefully planned around their individual strengths, needs, interests and EHCP outcomes.
Our aim is to enable every child to make progress, develop their independence and communication, build positive relationships and experience success as a valued member of our school community.
Learning at Meadow Fields
Learning is carefully adapted to meet the needs of each individual child. Children are supported through a balance of:
-
child-led and adult-directed learning
-
play, exploration and practical experiences
-
communication and interaction opportunities
-
sensory and physical development
-
personalised learning activities and targeted teaching
-
opportunities to develop independence and life skills
-
experiences within the wider school community.
We recognise that children learn in different ways and at different rates. Our provision therefore allows children to revisit, practise and develop skills in ways that are meaningful to them.
We place a strong emphasis on communication, relationships, independence and wellbeing, alongside developing the knowledge and skills children need to become confident learners.
Part of the Race Leys Family
Although Meadow Fields provides a specialist environment, children are an important part of our wider school community.
Where appropriate for the individual child, children have opportunities to access learning, activities and experiences alongside their mainstream peers. This may include joining their class for particular lessons or activities, enjoying shared playtimes and lunchtimes, taking part in whole-school events and celebrations, and developing friendships across the school.
We believe that inclusion is about more than being in the same space. It is about belonging, participating, being understood and having a valued role within our school community.
We work closely with families and other professionals to ensure that each child’s provision is responsive to their individual needs and that we celebrate their achievements and progress along the way.
A Place to Belong
At Meadow Fields, we want every child to feel that they belong.
Our staff take time to understand each child – what motivates them, how they communicate, what they enjoy and what helps them to feel secure and successful. We create predictable, supportive environments while also encouraging children to develop confidence, curiosity and independence.
We celebrate every step forward, recognising that progress looks different for every child.
At Race Leys Infant School, every child matters, every child belongs and every child deserves the opportunity to flourish.
