PSHE at Race Leys Infant school

At Race Leys Infant School our personal, social and health education (PSHE) programme promotes children's personal, social and economic development, as well as their health and wellbeing.

We aim to give children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens

At Race Leys Infant School the children’s wellbeing, happiness and safety are our first priority, and PSHE is the key vehicle through which we share this with the children.

We want all of our children to have an understanding of how all actions have consequences and how they can make informed choices to help themselves, others and the environment.

We help children to explore different ways to respond to their emotions. The PATHS learning programme supports children with alternative ways to respond to tricky situations. The Paths animals include a turtle who helps the children to ‘Do the turtle’ when they are in a difficult situation -stop breathe and say how you feel.

Race Leys Infant School uses curriculum guidance from the PSHE Association for its curriculum planning alongside foundation stage guidance. We teach taking care which aims to improve the safety and well-being of all children in Warwickshire.

Our values are at the heart of everything that happens at our school and are an integral part of our PSHE learning. They are caring, teamwork, perseverance and pride, respect, honesty and fairness. Each value is represented by a character created by our children and they are displayed proudly both outside   and inside our school.
